If you were considering savant, you need to be prepared to hire a home IT professional. Thats what your Savant integrator will become to you. Something as simple as getting a new phone will require your savant integrator to reprogram your system so you new phone can interact with it. You will not be able to do this by yourself.
The system is highly complex and will essentially mean that your Savant integrator will become your home IT manager.
Before buying the system you need to ask your integrator what average annual costs his current clients are incurring to maintain their systems.
One way to think of Savant is that it is the most expensive imaginable Way to construct an app folder.
If you just get Honeywell thermostats and security apps, you dont need an IT manager and the hardware costs 1/10 as much. Then you can drag the icons on top of each other and essentially have a Savant folder, if you add remote control apps from your cable provider, and the Lutron app.
These individual tools will be more reliable, and easier to use because theyre supported individually by the organizations that have sole focus to develop them.
